Minerva Scholarship for Iraq, Libya, Syria and Yemen منحة مينـِرڨا لـِ العـراق وليبيا وسورية واليمن
ARCA builds capacity in conflict zone source countries
In response to scholarly concerns of heritage destruction and looting throughout Iraq, Libya, Syria, and Yemen, the Association for Research into Crimes against Art would like to extend its Minerva Scholarship program to a limited number of candidates from these conflict countries for its 12th annual postgraduate certificate program in the study of art crime and cultural heritage protection.
Postgraduate candidates with a background or current position within either museums, cultural heritage institutions, or universities in these countries are strongly encouraged to apply.
The Minerva scholarship is set aside to equip scholars with the knowledge and tools needed to build heritage protection capacity of their home institutions and to advance the education of future generations. Scholarships are awarded through an open, merit-based competition, subject to available funding in 2020.
Accepted candidates must have an academic background in archaeology, art history, art law, museology or conservation and be able to speak and write, in English at a university level proficiency. Those who do not speak English at strong level cannot be considered as all courses are taught in English and course assignments must be delivered in English.
Awardees of the Minerva will be granted a full tuition waiver to ARCA’s 2020 intensive professional development postgraduate program in Amelia, Italy.

جهود مؤسسة أبحاث جرائم ضد الفن (آركا) في مجال بناء القدرات في بلدان المصدر للقطع الأثرية المنهوبة والتي تقع في مناطق النزاع المسلح
إستجابة للقلق الأكاديمي المتعلق بتدمير ونهب التراث في العراق وليبيا وسورية واليمن، فقد وسعت “مؤسسة أبحاث جرائم ضد الفن” منحتها الدراسية “مينِرڨا” لتشمل أيضاً المتقدمين من هذه البلدان التي تشهد نزاعات، للنسخة السنوية الثانية عشر من برنامج شهادة الدراسات العليا في دراسة جرائم الفن وحماية التراث الثقافي.
المؤهلون للبرنامج والذين لديهم خلفية أو يعملون حالياً في ميدان المتاحف، والمؤسسات المعنية بالتراث الثقافي أوالجامعات من هذه البلدان مدعوون بشدة للتقدم للمنحة الدراسية.
تم إنشاء منحة “مينِرڨا” لتزويد الباحثين بالمعرفة والأدوات اللازمة لبناء قدرات المؤسسات في أوطانهم والنهوض بتعليم الأجيال القادمة. المنح الدراسية محدودة وسيتم منحها من خلال التنافس المفتوح على أساس الجدارة وتوفر التمويل المطلوب خلال عام 2020.
يجب أن يكون لدى المرشحين المقبولين خلفية أكاديمية في علم الآثار أو تاريخ الفن أو الدراسات القانوينة في مجال الفن أو علم المتاحف أو الترميم والحفظ والأثري وأن يكونوا قادرين على التحدث والكتابة باللغة الإنجليزية بإتقان وبمستوى جامعي. لا يمكن قبول أولئك الذين لا يتحدثون الإنجليزية بمستوى قوي حيث يتم تدريس جميع المواد الدراسية باللغة الإنجليزية ويجب تسليم الواجبات الدراسية باللغة الإنجليزية.
سيتم منح الفائزين بمنحة “مينِرڨا” إعفاء كامل من الرسوم الدراسية في البرنامج المكثف لشهادة الدراسات العليا لـ “مؤسسة أبحاث جرائم ضد الفن” والذي يمتد عشرة أسابيع في أميليا، في إيطاليا لصيف عام 2020.

With the help of these types of generous contributions, ARCA has been able to expand its academic training programs and promote scholarship and cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural dialogue in the field of art crime prevention and we hope to be able to do so with such support in the coming years.
ARCA supports the safeguarding of movable and immovable cultural heritage in countries of conflict.
“To safeguard these things will not affect the course of battles,” George Stout wrote in a draft proposing the protection of monuments to the U.S. government in 1942.
The protection of cultural heritage is a fundamental tool to support the development of peaceful societies, strengthen sustainable development, prevent violent extremism, and suppress terrorist financing.
